Where it started

In 2017 we watched a tape of the 1987 Aerobic Championships: sequins, headbands, and a crowd losing its mind over a grapevine, one of the moves in our own repertoire. Nederland in Beweging, the Dutch morning exercise programme, does the same moves, only a lot calmer. That handed us our starting point: exactly this, at full blast.
We also took inspiration from the Soul Train Line: two rows of people, one aisle, and everyone taking a turn to let loose without a hint of embarrassment. We carry that feeling with us, even though aerobics is at the heart of what we do. The instructor freestyles over whatever the DJ plays, so even the background dancers are sometimes off the beat. Which means nobody in the room can get it wrong. That is the whole idea: dancing without holding back.
So we gave a workshop, just for fun. That got a little out of hand: before we knew it, we were opening for Kool & The Gang.
